I finally watched Blade Runner last week and Blade Runner 2049 last night. I loved the original. The sequel was ok. Ryan Gosling was good as usual but I felt the scenes he and Harrison Ford shared were not great. They came out from behind the characters. Speaking as a non-actor
Cyberpunk has been on my mind since then. I almost went out and bought Neuromancer and Snow Crash before I picked up a Vonnegut set.
Maybe it's the cyberdecks I'm seeing on my feed, giant corporations grinding their bootheel, or the obliteration of the job market along side the rise of AI, but I'm really looking for some scifi to speak to me about survival and hope amongst cyberculture.
Hot Spot looks interesting. A little Fifth Elements vibe to it. And while an action flick is fun, I'd like to see some cyberpunk corporate espionage or something. I'm thinking Slow Horses meets Akira.
