Pad Chennington has the wonderful yet annoying habit of dropping long videos on music that I know little to nothing about. Which is my wheelhouse. I love info dumps on shit I don't know.

Today's is about Floral Shoppe by Macintosh Plus (Ramona Andra Langley). One of the seminal albums within the vaporwave genre. A genre consisting of slowed samples from 80s and 90s songs. Roots in hip hop for sure but closer to plunderphonics in nature (think Negativeland or J Dilla's Donuts). IMHO.

While familiar with vaporwave, I can't say I'm even ankle deep into that scene. I've listened to a few albums whose names elude me now. Enjoyed them and moved on. Though the biggest influence has been the aesthetic by way of 2010s Tumblr Seapunk.
